The Annual Jewell Lodge Fisher Cat day was Sunday Aug. 29th. The game was well attended, the number of masons and their families have been growing steadily at this function and a good time was had by all! The weather was beautiful and the Fisher Cats did end up winning 6-3 against the Portland Sea Dogs!

Saturday August 28th, Jewell Lodge again hosted the Pembroke Woman's Club Annual Pancake Breakfast for Pembroke/Allenstown Old Home Day. Jewell Lodge members assisted in the kitchen duties and we opened the lodge room for tours in an Open House type fashion. Big thanks to Scott, Jack, Ed, Carl (and his whole family) for the awesome job in the kitchen and everyone who came out in support of this good cause!

Our July and August stated meetings were also our annual 'Masonic Family' events. Members of five other Masonic Bodies attended and gave us updates on their current charitable works. Jewell Lodge is proud to support these Masonic charities.

The 2010 Roadside Cleanups (along Rte. 28) have been half completed. Our August 14th pickup was very well attended, thanks to all who came out!

Improvements continue at the lodge, stop by and see them!

May 19th, our 130th Anniversary, was marked with a state flag flown on the John Stark memorial flagpole at the statehouse in Concord. It was handled by three statehouse employees who are all members of Jewell Lodge (as well as General Court Lodge). John Theuner, Walter Sword and John Sheehan. The flag will be brought to Jewell Lodge and permanently displayed in the lodge room.

Not so recent, but in case you hadn't heard:

A CPR/AED Class was held at the lodge on Wed. May 5th 2010. There are now a dozen people certified to use the newly acquired AED device in the lodge as well as the ability to give life saving CPR. We also purchased new First Aid kits as well.

(An automated external defibrillator or AED is a portable electronic device that automatically diagnoses the potentially life threatening cardiac arrhythmias of ventricular fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia in a patient, and is able to treat them through defibrillation, the application of electrical therapy which stops the arrhythmia, allowing the heart to reestablish an effective rhythm. In case you were wondering!)

Fellowship night April 9th went very well! We had good attendance and it was a good time!

New HVAC and Electrical system were installed in the building in 2009! This means we will have heat in the winter and fortunately...it won't be from a fire caused by our vintage wiring! The old system was dead as a doorknob.

The 2009 Special Ladies Program was held Sunday 11/8 at 2pm and was well attended. Pictures can be found here

The 2009 Veterans Program was held during the October stated (10/21) and was attended by Most Woshipful C. Wayne Libby as well as a suite of Grand Lodge officers. We had a good attendance by family and friends as well. Two 60 year pins were handed out that evening as well as three 25 year pins. Pictures can be found here

August was declared "Masonic Family Month" in our lodge and we had invited representatives from five of the Masonic bodies join us at our stated communication in August.

The lodge library is growing this year! Our Catalog is online at: http://www.librarything.com/catalog/jewelllodge
